And Live in the World You Want to Live In!

In today’s time, it’s pretty normal for one to look in on someone else’s life and get jealous or to notice each and every flaw we have in our own lives. Especially with social media being such a prevalent part in our society, it’s hard to not compare your worst days to someone’s best days. Or to compare your normal body to the body of someone who has had a lot of work done to get it to look like a “perfect body.” We get it! It’s hard to see the positive when the world is so full of negatives…

On my recent trip to Cambodia, I had no idea that landmines were such a problem until I arrived. As Cambodia was plagued with three decades of recent war, there are landmines scattered all across the countryside, abandoned and ready to detonate at any moment. This is clearly a real danger, especially to the farmers, who account for roughly 60% of the Cambodian population and those living in rural areas, who account for nearly 80% of the Cambodian population. An estimated 15,000–20,000 people are killed by landmines each year in Cambodia.

For those who don’t know, I decided to volunteer this summer at an archaeological dig in Cambodia. P’teah Cambodia: ProjecT Excavating Ancient Households was an excavation lead by Drs. Miriam Stark and Alison Carter. The goal of the dig was to discover how people lived back during the Pre-Angkorian, Angkorian, and Post-Angkorian periods. While scientists are still regularly studying the Angkorian temples, much more is known about them while there is still so much to discover regarding how people lived and what their homes were like in the surrounding areas. …

Holding many accounts of both historical and paranormal lore, the Winchester Mystery House is perhaps the most famous house in America. It is both beautiful and bizarre. The mansion was built by Sarah Winchester, the heiress of the Winchester Repeating Arms fortune.

The mansion gained its fame primarily due to its strange architectural developments. The Winchester Mystery House was built almost continuously for 38 years, with construction only briefly stopping after the 1906 earthquake. The home was a marvel for its time, as it was self-sufficient with its own water, drainage, sewer, gas, and (later) electrical systems. The house began…

We manifest what we want in our lives whether we are conscious of it or not. That means that the more we focus on something, the more likely it is to become a bigger part of our lives. So, the best way to bring more travel and adventure into our lives is by focusing on travel, understanding what keeps us from traveling, and seeing how to fix it.

What Keeps People from Traveling?

I just recently visited the Travel and Adventures Show in San Diego where I was able to talk to various travel experts. A lot of these people have made travel their way…

When I was visiting Guanajuato, my friend told me that I had to see the mummy museum. I wasn’t a bit concerned; after all, I had been to the Catacombs of Paris. This was no where near as many dead bodies as I saw there. When we got to the mummy museum, I was shocked at the bodies they had on display. I wasn’t expecting it to be anything like it was. I guess it makes sense that this would be a pretty terrifying place, as there have been many horror films created about the mummies of Guanajuato.

The mummies…

I always respected my grandmother, but I never realized how much she taught me about life until she was gone. My grandfather passed away when I was 20 years old. When he died, she was so strong. It’s not that we didn’t expect her to be, but we were shocked that she refused to even shed a tear unless she was completely alone. She put on the face of a lion for us, because she wanted to protect her family. She wanted us to know that it would be okay, so she stayed strong in front of us so we…

Many people have seen this. It’s the abandoned water park that sits in desolate tranquility in the desert on the 15 between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Having gone back and forth between the two many times, I had seen it hiding there in plain sight. Little did I know, it’s open to visit. There are no fences to keep people out, and there are no “no trespassing” signs to be found. Though the water park sits right next to the highway, it’s a 3 mile drive from the closest exit. Luckily, it’s on google maps, so you can easily…
